The Hair Style Journey…

9 Jan

So as all of you in the transitioning world know, the hardest thing to deal with isn’t the breakage or the hair routine…it’s these damn hairstyles. As of now I know Anna is struggling to find a hairstyle that can give instant gratification and I’m looking for a hairstyle that won’t send me home from work!! I woke up today trying to find a cute way to style my hair and realized how limited I am in styles (my length of hair, the transitioning, not wanting to use heat, etc). I currently have the Bantu Knot-Twist Out in my hair, and after a failed attempt at a flat twist out, I decided my hair is going to staaaay in Bantu Knot-Twist Outs until its time for the Big Chop!

Mimi and I are experiencing so much transitioning hairstyle frustration. I find that every morning I am fighting with my hair for a professional style for work. I am not able to keep the styles in for a week, and have to manipulate my hair at least every 2 days. My new growth is dense and hard to move around and my permed hair is not responding to the styling products. I am finding that perm rod sets and buns are the only styles that I can manage to make work. I believe part of the problem is that I cannot style hair(my hair or others). I will be the first one to admit, I have a hard time seeing something and recreating it. I try very hard to make transitioning styles work and they always turn out to be a dud. I sat in front of youtube for hours searching for a style. It finally hit me hours later that I am not natural so why am I looking for styles better suited for natural hair.Grrr!

Have either of you ladies considered trying the Transitioning Solutions line by Carol’s Daughter? I’d love to see you do a review of the products. http://www.carolsdaughter.com/hair/concern/relaxed_to_natural.html?utm_source=proclivity&utm_medium=bnr&utm_campaign=transitioning

Hey! We haven’t tried it yet. My coworker is using it now, she feels it is something that you can do without the kit. I will get the kit and do a review.

I feel you….I am in that baby lock stage so I can’t do any styles that would compromise my hair locking…it looks like a mop daily:-(

It’s frustrating! Bue you really do learn about how people feel about hair because so many comments come out once they see that your hair isn’t straightened anymore!
